Backend Engineer, Python

Build Python services that keep a US team's products and operations running. Own APIs, background jobs, and the data flows connecting the systems they use.
What You Will Do
- Develop Python APIs with explicit validation, authentication, and error handling.
- Design relational schemas and migrations that preserve production data.
- Build background jobs with retries, deduplication, and useful execution logs.
- Investigate service failures and add tests that prevent the same issue from returning.
What We Look for
- Production Python experience with Django, FastAPI, or a comparable framework.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, transactions, indexes, and query plans.
- Experience testing APIs and operating services in a cloud environment.
- Clear English communication and availability during agreed US core hours.
Nice to Have
- Experience with task queues such as Celery and message brokers.
- Integrations with external APIs that impose rate limits or inconsistent payloads.
- Experience profiling Python applications and reducing service latency.
